Part 1: Morning

Warning:
I am not a morning person.
2 cups of tea minimum
to string a few words together...

But serendipitously
I stumbled upon sunrise this morning -
too marvellous to miss
too wonderful for words

White mist rising slowly
at the sun’s summons-
silent spectre:
susurrant, speechless

Rose-pink fluorescence
mirroring the dam’s surface:
a seemingly seamless fusion
of colour, water, sky, glass

And the birds -
such a colourful cacophony!
obviously in no need
of wake-up tea...

Wagtails, magpies,
corellas, rosellas
squawking skyward
in wild harmony

Happy heralds
of this morning -
too resplendent to rush
too fantastic to forget...
Part 2: Evening

At evening
I find myself returning
for the Reprise: Symphony Part 2
sunset’s encore to dawn’s introit...

A fitting finale:
voice-full vote of thanks
for this day...
Gift from beginning to end!

And of course, the birds
are already here -
making mockery
of my muteness

a Holy Choir
of melodious mentors
beckoning me
to join the chorus...
